NILES - With family members by her side, Cyndi Dawn Burns went peacefully to her eternal home in Heaven late Sunday evening. Nov. 9, 2008, at Hospice House after a five-year battle with cancer.

Cyndi was born March 22, 1960, in Clarksburg, W. Va., the daughter of Charles W. and Lovie M. Wiles Cozad Jr.

She had worked for the Niles City Schools since 1992 in the Treasurer Department. She had attended North Mar Christian Missionary Alliance and was a member of the Ovarian Cancer Support Group. Cyndi found great joy spending time with her family and friends.

Cyndi is survived by her husband, David Burns, whom she married July 29, 1979; her son, Michael and his wife, Leeann Burns, of Niles; her father and stepmother, Charles and Patricia Forrest Cozad of Niles; her mother-in-law, Nina Burns of Niles; three brothers, Charles Bradely Cozad of Texas, William Bruce Cozad of Florida and Gregory Earl Cozad of Niles; and a step-brother, John Forrest of Calif.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lovie Cozad, and her father-in-law, Harold Burns.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel where friends may call 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Hospice House.
