Born April 9, 1930 in China as oldest son of oldest son. Graduated Pui Ching H.S. (Macau), Kwong Wah Medical College (Guangzhou). Fled to Hong Kong 1961. Served as anesthesiologist, Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, HK. Immigrated 1968 to U.S. with family. Physician, Norwalk (Connecticut) Hospital 25 years; resided many years in Westport, CT. YMCA supporter; member American Society of Anesthesiologists. Survived by wife of 65 years W.Y. Mary (Lee) Chan, MD; sons Wai-Ping Chan, Esq, Alexandria VA; Kin-Ping Chan, New Haven CT; Shu-Ping Chan, Esq, Chevy Chase MD; grandson Adian Chan; daughters-in-law Mandy Ly, CPA and Jana Mason, Esq; and dozens of siblings and nieces & nephews in Canada, Mexico, HK, Macau, & U.S. Family and friends will be received at Pumphrey's Bethesda-Chevy Chase Funeral Home, 7557 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda on Saturday, March 18 from 12PM until the time of the service at 1PM. Private interment later date.
