William L. "Bill" Edwards, 77, of Ridgway, died 8:54 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Ind.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Ridgway with the Rev. Bob Gallion officiating. Burial will be in Palestine No. 2 Cemetery, Omaha. Visitation is 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are in the charge of Earl Jones Funeral Home, Equality.

He was born July 11, 1929, in Omaha to Herdis C. and Ethel M. (Sarver) Edwards. On Aug. 5, 1949, he married the former Irma Sanders, who survives in Ridgway.


He was a funeral director and a member of First Baptist Church of Ridgway. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of VFW Post No. 5508, American Legion Post No. 596 and Ridgway Lodge No. 816 A.F. and A.M. Bill, along with his wife Irma, owned and operated Edwards Funeral Home and Ambulance Service for more than 45 years in Ridgway.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Dana (Bill) Wargel and Billie (Steve) Febuary, both of Ridgway; a granddaughter, Kristin (Brad) Benson of Marion; a grandson, Trent Wargel of Evansville, Ind.; a granddaughter, Amy Febuary of Ridgway; a sister, Dorothy Poole of Omaha; and a brother, Ray (Sue) Edwards of Omaha
