John was extremely proud of the time he served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1961-1965. He was very passionate and involved in the Catholic Church, he devoted the majority of his free time to the church. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters Joann Adams, Edna Lewis and his brother Dennis E Adams.
John is survived by his devoted children John L. Adams, Jr. (Comelita), Karen M. Holloway, Michael S. Adams (Shante),; loving grandchildren, Damarko Holloway, Darius Adams, Omar Adams, Quintin Adams and Joshua Adams; brothers, Emery Adams (Betty), Leroy Adams (Katrina), like a brother and best friend David Francisco; sisters , Barbara Thompson, Donna Stevens, Marilyn Herndon, Wanda Pitts, Stephanie Adams-Ringwalt and a host of nieces , nephews, cousins, family and friends.
