OBITUARY:

Thomas Gary Unrue 63 of Battle Creek died at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center after a long illness on Sunday April 19,2015.

Tom was born in Battle Creek Michigan on November 4, 1951, to Robert J and Violet G (Barker) Unrue. He grew up in Battle Creek and was a 1970 graduate of Lakeview High School, attending Kellogg Community College.

Tom worked at the Kellogg Company in production before being drafted in the U S Army where he received the Vietnam Service Metal w/1 Bronze Service Star, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Expert (rifle) Medal.

Surviving are his brother, Jim R and (Judith A) Unrue of Dallas, Texas; his sister, Jean W and (Kenneth N.) Duskey of Battle Creek, Michigan; nieces, Jody Unrue, Traci Reed; and nephew Ryan Unrue along with their families. Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held later at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater, MI, where military honors will be bestowed by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
