Funeral services for Oza Ree (Lucas) McDonald, 93, of Ninnekah, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 in the Ninnekah First Baptist Church.
Oza Ree (Lucas) McDonald was born on February 29, 1924, (celebrating most birthdays on March, 1st) in Temple, Oklahoma, the daughter of Mack Lucas and Georgia Lee (Nolan) Lucas. She passed away on March 26, 2017 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Oza Ree was raised and spent her entire life in the Chitwood area of Alex, Oklahoma. On April 12, 1941 she married James McDonald. Oza Ree and James lived a short time in California and while James was in the military they were stationed in Missouri. In 1944, they moved to their farm west of Chitwood where they spent the rest of their lives farming and ranching. For eighteen years, Oza Ree worked at Downeyflake Waffle Factory, which later became Pet Milk. After that, she and her husband built and sold trailers from their company, Muley Trailers.
Oza Ree was a relentless gardener of beautiful flowers and vegetables. She was an exceptional seamstress, making clothes and creating quilt after quilt. She made quilts up until her very last days. Oza Ree loved, loved, loved her dogs and other animals on the farm. She was a democrat, a lover of nature and enjoyed her travels, an OSU sports fan and a joy to be around.
She was a member of the Ninnekah Southern Baptist Church and all her life has been a faithful follower of Jesus. She had an inner strength from the Lord that was expressed in a grateful, appreciative nature and it was the secret of her good and happy life. We will miss her smile, the twinkle in her eye, her delightful sense of humor, her beautiful face and her love that she so generously shared. Be at peace dear loved one.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, James McDonald; brother, Edward Lucas; and grandson, Eric Wolfe.
She is survived by her five daughters, Emma Lee White and husband, Jerry, of Ninnekah, Peggy Wolfe of Stillwater, Jimmie Ree Robertson of Lindsay, Sherry West and husband, Kenneth, of Ninnekah, and Tamara McDonald-Freed and husband, Ned, of Claremont, California; granddaughters, Jan Shepperd, Carron Pearce, Sheree Johnston, Cash Annesley, and Sherri LaSorsa; grandsons, Kevin Stewart, Robert West, Jason Mutz, Torren Wolfe, Shannon Robertson, T.J. Robertson, Thomas Freed, and John White; twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in the McDonald Family Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
