Katherine E. Flora, 71, went to be with the Lord Jan. 24, 2007. Ms. Flora was born Aug. 31, 1935, in Norfolk, to George and Carrie Flora. She was employed as an administrative assistant for more than 29 years with Farm Fresh. Katherine was a longtime member of Bayside Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star Chapter 22 and the Moose Lodge. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are a brother, Elbert Flora of Greensboro, N.C.; two sisters, Virginia "Giny" Northcutt and Lenora Liles, both of Virginia Beach; a nephew, Roy Gibbs; a niece, Patricia Dickerson and husband Bob; two great-nieces, Michelle Harrington and husband Jeff of Virginia Beach and Christine Wood of Melbourne, Fla.; three great-nephews, Greg Dickerson and wife Debbie of Southern Shores, N.C., and Robert and Stacy Sawyer; and five great-nieces, Sabrina Wood, Rachel, Gabby and Peyton Dickerson and Emmalee Harrington. She was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Melvin Flora; and a niece, Mary Northcutt Haley. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Silva and his staff at Pulmonary and Critical Care as well as the nursing staff at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel. Burial will be held at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
