Daniel R. Dexter, 71, of Danforth, IL., died at 8:53 A.M., Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at his home following a brief illness.

Dan was born on August 2, 1945 to George and Opal (Taden) Dexter. He graduated from Crescent City High School.
Dan served in the Army Reserves.


Dan married Gale A. Swanson on February 27, 1971. She survives. Surviving daughters are Abigail (Mike) Reed of Onarga, IL. and Allison (Travis) Heil of Bourbonnais, IL. Four grandchildren - Dalton Reed, Madeline Heil, William Heil and James Heil. Two sisters - Donna (Bernie) Curtis of Pontiac, IL., Martha (Kenneth) Redeker of Onarga and one brother - James (Carol) Dexter of Crescent City. Several nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, son - Aaron Curtis Dexter and a sister - Alice Dexter.


He was a member of the Danforth Reformed Church in Danforth. Dan retired from Armstrong World Industries after being there 38 years. He was a member of the Gilman American Legion Post 499 and Gilman Slow Boys Tractor Club. Dan enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing sports.


A funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Danforth Reformed Church in Danforth, IL., with Rev. Donald J. MacDonald III officiating. Burial will be in the Danforth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman. Memorials may be made to the Donor's Choice.
