SGT Roger Martin Tyner, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Carthage, North Carolina.

Sergeant Roger Martin Tyner was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, SGT Tyner served our country until February 23rd, 1969 in Binh Duong, South Vietnam. He was 21 years old and was not married. It was reported that Roger died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. Roger was born on October 18th, 1947 in Carthage, North Carolina. SGT Tyner is on panel 31W, line 027 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

BASIC/AIT/RVN, Not Forgotten. Roger, from looking through the names and dates, the 23rd of February 1969 must have been really rough for the 25th Division. Hope you and Kirby are keeping each other company up in heaven. Peace and thanks to you. Ron Rhoades.

He was the Son of Mr Albert R & Jessie Pearl Speer Tyner, Star Route, Carthage, NC.

He served with Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning", USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Silver Star Medal for Bravery, The Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
