Marlene Rennirt Able, 83, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hewitt and Dorothy Rennirt, a sister, Zelda Ruth, and two brothers, Ronald and Donald known as "Big" and "Little".
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband Forest Edward Able; three sons, Forest "Ross" (Marian), Todd Edward (Cathy), Kent Alan (Sandy); five grandsons, Jared Able (Jessica), Jonathan Able, Tyler Able, Kameron Able, Ryan Able; one granddaughter, Melissa Burchett (Dallas); two great grandchildren, Landry and Beau Burchett; her brother, Kenneth Rennirt (Judy) and sister Sharon Paschal (Reggie); many nieces and nephews; her very special friend Hattie Adams, and a whole host of family and friends.
Marlene married her high school sweetheart, Forest E. Able, in 1955. The rumors were he chose to leave the UofL basketball program for the WKU program just to be near her (not for Coach Diddle). The courtship led to their 62 years of marriage.
Marlene was graduated from Fairdale High School in 1951 and Western Kentucky University in 1955. Her career began as a Home Economics teacher at Valley High School and included many years as a Guidance Counselor at Pleasure Ridge Park and Western High Schools. She touched thousands of lives in a meaningful and positive way. With her career and her children, she was involved in many professional organizations. She was a long-time member of Mt Holly United Methodist Church and a Life Member of Fairdale Chapter #153 Order of the Eastern Star.
Her love for family and others and her abundant talents were exemplified through her skills in interior decorating, hairdressing, and most of all, her culinary expertise. All she did, she did in love. Her limitless contributions to the community will always be remembered and she will be truly missed.
The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM, March 21, 2017 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood, and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd), with burial at Brookland Cemetery.
