On Tuesday, March 7, 2017 James Edward Abbitt, 59, departed his life into heavens glorious journey. He was born to the late Fred Abbitt and Lina Mae McClendon Abbitt in Forsyth County on September 29, 1957.
James affectionately known as "Big James" and several other nicknames by his family and friends was a loving and caring father, husband and grandfather. He brought much joy and laughter to the life and heart of his family and friends. He never met a stranger and would actually give you the shirt off his back. He loved the Washington Redskins and working with his hands. James had a lot of love for his family and friends. James graduated from Parkland High School and joined the United States Army. He retired from the Mustang Enterprise Concrete Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Abbitt.
He leaves precious and loving memories with his wife, Deloise Hairston Abbitt of the home; children, Sindy Abbitt of Salisbury, Ashley Abbitt of Winston-Salem, Travis Abbitt and Justin Murphy both of Salisbury; brothers and sisters, Thurmond Abbitt, Doris Abbitt-Thompson, Armentrice Abbitt, Haywood Montgomery, all of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Lele, Averyana, Demaryon, and Zhion; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, other relatives, and friends.
