Bob Flowers – the "Rootless Flower," or as I sometimes called him, "Le Fleur Petite," has been plucked and he is now gone. There was nothing petite in Bob; "gargantuan" seems more apt than merely "big." He was a man of large appetites, unbounded love and admiration for his friends, big enthusiasms, grand ideas, super big words, and a hearty laugh. Who can forget his passion for "The cryogenically solidified extract of the lactic fluid of the domesticated bovine." His joking description of ice cream revealed a lot about Bob: his wit, his vocabulary, the breadth of his interest in the world, and most of all, his intelligence.
