Gordon Schaefer, 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep March 14, 2015, at Tendercare in Midland. He was born March 5, 1931, to the late Emil and Lula (Burlingame) Schaefer of Midland. Gordon worked as a residential builder until he retired in 2006. He served in the Armed Forces from February 1953 to February 1955, and was a former member of the American Legion Drill Team. He was involved with the Midland Horse and Saddle Club for many years. He enjoyed hunting, and raising deer and other wild life. He leaves his children, Patrick (Christine) Schaefer, Douglas (Deborah) Schaefer and Pamela Schaefer. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Nicole, Chene, Justin and Derrick Schaefer, Jenna (Schaefer) Bodus and Jeff Bodus. Gordon had one great-grandchild, Christian Bodus. Gordon was preceded in death by his spouse, Barbara Schaefer, who passed away March 8, 2015. A memorial service was held Saturday, June 27, at 11 a.m., at Midland Missionary Church, 479 S. 11 Mile Road in Midland, Mich., 48640, with Pastor Eric Smith officiating. From Midland Daily News
