Kenny I think of you often I remember the last time we talked as I was already in country and you told me of your fears that you wouldn't make it back and I laughed and said don't even talk like that you will be kicking ass and be back in no time. Well I see how wrong I was. I went back to see your Mom after I got back in the US. I felt like she wsa wondering why I was back and you didn't come home. Well Kenny, I Guess God needed another GI in his Army. I will never forget you, and will honor you as long as I live you can count on that. And if there is a hereafter, I will meet you in that last formation in the sky. Rest in peace my Dear Comrade, Rest in Peace. Ken Godwin, 5627 Fremont St, Lincoln, NE 68507, [email protected].

I Walked "Slack" that day. I saw him fall. He was only 3 yards ahead as he walked company point up the hill. A single shot caught him under the the arm of the flack vest killing him almost instantly. The NVA soldier who fired the fatal round was underground and was never found. Barry J Roberts, Columbus, Oh 43215.
