Percy C. Andrews passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 1975, after a brief illness. Born Jan. 27, 1888, in Randolph County, the son of Adle Jordan and Dr. Thomas H. Andrews, he lived in Thomasville 58 years, moving there from Cairo. Mr. Andrews served as the first Thomas County attorney and then City attorney. He was active in the Thomas County Bar Association and the Georgia Bar Association, as well as many civic affairs. He was instrumental in the preservation of Thomasville's Big Oak and in getting it registered as a historic landmark. He also took an active part in the preservation of Paradise Park in Thomasville. A member of Thomasville First Baptist Church, Mr. Andrews was a former member and teacher of the Barraca Sunday School Class. He attended Oxford College of Emory University and received his LLB degree at the University of Georgia School of Law in 1910. Funeral services for Percy C. Andrews, will be conducted at 10a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1975 at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Milton Gardner, with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery. [from Thomasville (Ga.)
