BASKIN Lelia Mae Lelia Mae Baskin, 83, passed away January 19, 2007, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born in Cumberland, Maryland she has been a resident of Toledo since 1942. Mrs. Baskin was a member of Third Baptist Church for 56 years, where she served as president of the Nurses Guild and was a member of the willing workers. Lelia began her nursing career as an LPN at St. Vincent Hospital. She earned an Associates Degree at U of T and became an RN. She later completed her Bachelor's Degree at University of Toledo in Education and Allied Science. She retired from St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center as Head Nurse in 1988. Lelia taught CPR and first aide skills at the American Red Cross. She was a member of O.E.S. Jewel chapter #20 serving as past Worthy Matron, Past Loyal Lady Ruler of LaPaz Assembly #35, Order of the Golden Circle, and Past Illustrious Commandress of Mecca Court No. 73 Daughters of Isis. She attended the City Park Senior Club, and enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading and studying her Bible. She is survived by daughters, Barbara B. Sims of Matterson, IL, Deletha Green; grandsons, Corey, Matthew and Travis Green; brother, Clifton (Bessie) Brooks of Keyser, WV; aunt, Nettie Brooks; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and special friends, Norman McClinton, Henrietta Duncas and Ella Runner. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Thursday followed by wake service from 6-8 p.m. with O.E.S. rites at 6:30 p.m. at Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be 12 noon Friday at Third Baptist Church, Rev. Kevin J. Bedford Sr., Officiant. Burial, Historic Woodlawn Cemetery Special thanks to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their tender care. Memorial Donations can be made to the Third Baptist Church Scholarship Fund. www.dalefh.com
