PFC Roy Lee Jackson, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Candor, North Carolina.

Private First Class Roy Lee Jackson was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Marine Corps, PFC Jackson served our country until January 30th, 1968 in Quang Nam, South Vietnam. He was 18 years old and was not married. It was reported that Roy died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. Roy was born on June 18th, 1949 in Candor, North Carolina. PFC Jackson is on panel 35E, line 073 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

He was the son of Mr Josiah Boston Jackson and Mrs Maggie Taylor Jackson, Route 1, Candor, NC.

He served with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, 3rd MAF.

He was awarded The Combat Action Ribbon(CAR), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
