Mrs. Betts was born Dec. 27, 1906 in Salem, Ohio and was the daughter of the late John R. and Eliza Wymer McCartney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Betts; one son Robert E. Betts Sr.; a grandson, Robert Betts Jr,; granddaughter, Pam Demetrach; five brothers, Clarence McCartney, Carl McCartney, William McCartney, Richard McCartney and John McCartney Jr.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and W.L. Satterfield of Dalton;
Six grandchildren, Connie and Greg Boyd, Doug and Kathy Satterfield, Traci and Gary Warnix, Suzie and Mark Starl, Christy and Joe Shacklock and Jeanne McCullough.
Thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews also survie.
The funeral was on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001 at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Guffey officiating.
