Born on January 9, 1922, in Brilliant, he was the son of the late Brumby and Autie McCaleb Ward.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 30, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Randy Lawrence Memorial Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home in Winfield with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. The Reverend Basil Prescott was the officiating minister.
Huitte Ward and Frances Wynell Parr were married on December 23, 1941, in Fulton, Mississippi. They are the parents of Melba, Brenda and Randy.
In his early years, Huitte worked as a coal miner and factory laborer. He then earned certification in television repair and owned and operated successful television repair businesses for many years in Milan, Illinois, and Winfield, Alabama.
Huitte enjoyed tinkering with all things electronic, making and playing guitars (especially with his good friend, Weldon Hopper), going to flee markets, and regaling family and friends with stories from days past. He loved going for long drives and exploring old haunts, and he was an avid listener of country and gospel music.
He was survived by: wife, Frances; children, Melba (Jerry Ray) Mann, Brenda (Wesley) Minor, and Randy (Linda) Ward; grandchildren, Tolisa Ford, Kirk Ford, Melissa Gravitt Miller, Michael Gravitt Jr., Randy Ward Jr. and Brent Ward; four great-grandchildren; brother, Glen Ward; and sisters, Betty Faye Michielsens, Nell Webster, and Mary Boliou.
