Betty D. Anderson, 80, of Spooner peacefully entered into the kingdom of heaven surrounded by her family on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Betty Diane Morgan was born on May 4, 1936, in Trego to Guy and Elsie (Stegeman) Morgan.

She was united in marriage to Norman E. Anderson on September 5, 1953. They were blessed with four children: Mark, Bruce, Judy, and Susan.

While raising their children, Betty worked with her mother-in-law, Francis Jellen, at Spooner’s first nursing home. She worked side-by-side with Francis, eventually taking over ownership until the home was sold.

Betty’s caring spirit led her to return to the field of personal care worker until her retirement. She was very patient and compassionate with her residents. Treating people with dignity was important to her.

Betty and her companion Larry Holt enjoyed life together and were very active in the Namekagon Congregational Church until Larry’s passing in 2014.

Betty enjoyed staying connected to all of her friends and family. She loved nothing more than sharing in the joys of their lives. Betty was selfless. As the perpetual caregiver, she continually put others before herself. In recent years, her favorite activities were reading and spending time with her family. Betty was a kind, loving, and wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an exceptional friend to many and was loved by all who knew her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; Larry Holt; her brothers Wendell (Pauline), Cashus (Jane), and Herman (Iona); her sisters Florence, Stella Belle, Gertrude (Charles), and Eva (David); her sister-in-law Julie Okonek; and her brother-in-law Orlin Burocher.

She is survived by her children, Mark (PiNan) Anderson of Riverside, California, Bruce (Deborah) Anderson of Spooner, Judy (Jim) Schultz of Trego, and Susan (Bill) Bennett of LaCrosse; her grandchildren, Steven (Mireya) Anderson of Moreno Valley, California, Jeremy (Janelle) Anderson of Riverside, California, Robert (Amy) Anderson of Altoona, Jennifer Schultz of Spooner, and Jessica (Mike) Andrews of Shell Lake; her great-grandchildren, Adrian, Cristo, Christian, Daisy, Mark, Alyssa, A.J., Joey, Bodie, Stella, Victoria, and Madyson; her ex-husband, Norm Anderson, of Spooner; her sister-in-law Rosemary Durocher of Altoona; her brother-in-law Jim Okonek of Alaska; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Spooner Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, and at the church on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, at Namekagon Congregational Church in Earl.
