POINT PLACE: Irene Conklin, 77, of Point Place, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017. She was born on January 16, 1940 to Urban and Esther (Ellerbrock) Schroeder.
Irene was the activities director at nursing homes for 5 years then worked Dillard's Department Store for 3 years. She was also a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and "Sweet Adalines". Irene enjoyed music and dancing. She called Bingo at the Friendship Center. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles in pen.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 56 years, Gary Conklin; children, Dennis Conklin, Lisa (David) Mruzek, Christopher and Matthew Conklin; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mildred, Clara, John, Carl, Robert, and Eileen. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Christina; and siblings Gerald, Dorothy, Daniel, Eugene, and Bernard.
Visitation will be Monday, January 30, 2017 from 9am until 10am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 5153 N. Summit St., Toledo. OH 43611, where a Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10am. Interment will take place Monday afternoon at 2:30pm at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Fremont, OH
