Early Life: Kim was born September 21, 1964, in Downey, California, to Geoffrey Power and Joanne Jorgensen. Kim had a love for life and exemplified this every day. She loved dogs and often brought them home, spent her youth making friends, and mentoring her younger siblings. She played pranks on people, played powder puff football, joined the cheer squad and was in the center of all the action. She graduated from La Mirada High School.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Kim attended Cerritos Jr. College while she worked hard to make her way to Brigham Young University. When she set a goal, she would work until she met it. She made things happen. Kim thrived in college, she made many friends and connections; she would often bring them with her when she visited home. She had the incredible ability to meet someone, and in seconds, they would feel like they had known her for their entire lives. She made each person she came into contact with feel special and loved. She was known for leaving kind notes and quoting famous people and poems often. She was truly loved by each person that knew her. Kim met her eternal companion, Chad, at the Historic Utah County Courthouse where she was working for Senator Bennett. One day, she was threatened by an angry constituent who alluded he was carrying a weapon. She called security, unbeknownst to the man, and asked for a certain file. Chad, then a security officer for the courthouse said, "You have the wrong number and hung up." She called once more and asked for the file again. Chad, now suspecting something was wrong went to check it out, but when he got there the guy had gone. When Chad interviewed Kim for the report, her beauty did not go unnoticed, but what really impressed Chad was her comment about the situation, “I would have been okay, I know karate.” After that, Chad was known as her hero. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on July 29, 1993. Kim lead a vivacious life. She didn’t shy away from change, opportunity, or adventure. She interned in New York, taught English in Japan, built businesses, and paved her way in the world. She absorbed all she could in life. She enjoyed painting, writing, poetry, reading, picnics, and spontaneous travel. There was never an ordinary day with Kim. She made every day and every lesson special. She would set up the formal dining table on Sundays to teach her children table manners, she would make a game of picking up rooms by suggesting they only use their feet, and had her children perform weekly acts of service. She loved her children and wanted them to have the tools to lead an exceptional life. Heaven won a phenomenal, wonderful and spectacular soul, Kimberly Power Stilson; her vibrant soul traveled through the veil Sunday, January 22, 2017. She was surrounded by family and friends as she completed her mission on Earth.
Family Message: "We all have a profound connection with Kim, that will continue to endure through this life and into the next. She will continue to guide us and work to make things happen for us from the other side. If she could say anything to you now, it would be: 'Love, love, love.' "
