Mr. Gilliland, 85, of Huntingdon County Nursing Home, formerly of Black Log Valley, Orbisonia RD, died at 3:10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 1983, in the home, after a two-year illness. Mr. Gilliland retired as a life-long dairy farmer. He was born Aug. 12, 1898, in Black Log Valley, the son of George and Mary (McMullen) Gilliland, and Oct. 8, 1926, in Valley Point, Orbisonia RD, married Ethel B. Shope. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mary Jane Campbell of Star Route, Huntingdon, and two foster children: William Wilhelm of Johnstown and John Bair of Mill Creek. Also surviving are two brothers and a sister: Willis of Lewistown, Clifford of Mount Union and Edna Shope of Orbisonia. Mr. Gilliland was a member of the Valley Point Church of the Brethren, where he was a deacon. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the John B. Brown Funeral Home, Huntingdon.

GILLILAND - Services for Marshall A. Gilliland, formerly of Black Log Valley, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the John B. Brown Funeral Home, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Liane Wagner and Monsignor Francis A. Ackerson. Interment in Gilliland Cemetery, Black Log Valley. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the funeral home.
