Joan is a 1955 graduate of Royerton High School and later married the love of her life, John F. Monroe, on July 1, 1955 and he preceded her in death Nov. 13, 2008. Mrs. Monroe became a homemaker and was a member of the CPC Sympathy Club through Fisher Body Corp. in Marion, she enjoyed roller skating which she did up until her husband passed away, and doing needle point work.
Survivors include one son, John R. Monroe, Sr., Indianapolis; two daughters, Pamela K. Pace and Mary A. Maley (husband-David: seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband of 53 years, John, she is preceded in death by her parents.
Private family funeral services were held at the Parson Mortuary. Burial followed at the Tomlinson Cemetery.
