Willie was the son of Elmer and Bertha Coleman.
He married Carrie McKinney (9 Nov 1924 - 20 Jun 2009) "the love of his life" in January, 1967.
Willie Otis Coleman was born on March 10, 1936, in Preston Mississippi and departed this life on December 25, 2016 peacefully at home in Elgin, IL.
He confessed hope in Christ at an early age at Bluff Spring Baptist Church in Mississippi. He was the second of nine children born to the late Elmer and Bertha Coleman. Willie left Mississippi in 1956, he went to Detroit MI, where he lived with his Aunt Helen and family for a short time. Willie came to Chicago later in 1957, His career included many years of work with Wells Fargo Security and Parker Hannifin where he retired in 1985. He met Carrie McKinney "the love of his life" in 1965 and they were married shortly after that in January of 1967. Together they raised four children, Dr. Jeannette McKinney (deceased) Herman McKinney (deceased). Willie was proceeded in death by his loving wife Carrie Coleman who passed in 2009. His heart was never the same.
Willie is survived by his sisters; and brothers.
He was proceeded in death by two siblings John E. Coleman and Artenesie Coleman.
Willie had six grandchildren; the late James Omar Dunn. Ten Great Grandchildren. Three Great Great Grandchildren. many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends A special Son-in-Law Robert E. Turner.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2016 at 11:00AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will follow in Bluff City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10:00AM until the time of services.
