When God created man, He did so in His own image. On the 8th, the 12th, and 46, He created a “legend”. After 70 years, God needed him home. On Jan. 5, 2017, Raymond T. “Rooster” Cox took that checkered flag and collected his winnings.

His funeral will be 1:00 PM Monday afternoon in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will follow in Plantation Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday.

Mr. Cox loved hunting, fishing, and NASCAR – anyone who knew him, knew his passion was “turning left”. The race was long, but he won! He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow & Helen Cox; two brothers, Jimmy & Henry Cox; and three sisters, Marie Hiers, Mary Mucklevaney, and Janie Rogers. We’ll all see you soon when our race is done, until then, we’ll be “ridin’ round – get in.”

Awaiting their pit passes are, his wife, Karen Cox; his wife-in-law, Debbie Poston; his children, Christy Cox, Karrie Cox, Brandon (Lauren) Tumbleston, Megan (Gregory) Cox, Melanie (Pete) Dungan, and Kristy (Bobby) McDonald – “The Brady Bunch” (his, hers, & theirs); three brothers, Marion, James, & Keith Cox; a sister, Delores Huene; numerous grands, great grands, nieces, and nephews (all of which he helped raise); and all of his “Shugs & Buddies”.
