Robert F. Balliet Sr., 94, of Holiday, FL, formerly of Lehighton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 15, in the Medical Center of Trinity, Trinity, FL. He was the husband of Phyllis Balliet for 70 years.
He owned and operated R.F. Balliet Trucking and Balliet's Repair Garage and was involved with trucking for over 47 years.
Born on March 20, 1922, in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Edwin and Luella (Zuber) Balliet.
He served as a sergeant with the 4th Infantry Division in Germany during World War II.
Balliet was an avid golfer and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was a member F. and A.M. Lodge No. 621, Lehighton, the American Legion, V.F.W., Irem Temple and the Shriners.
Surviving are a son, Robert Jr., and his wife, Barbara; a daughter Susan, wife of Frank Zimmerman; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Zipp and Marjorie Balliet; and a brother Melvin.
He was also preceded in death by a brother Evan.
Service: Interment at convenience of family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.
