Candido Francisco Abeyta, 81, passed away on November 17, 2016. Candido was born in Durango CO on January 7, 1935, where he attended school until 7th grade. He served in the Korean war and was very proud to be a veteran. He married his wife Louisa in 1957.
He was a sheep shearer and became a heavy equipment operator to support his wife and six children. In 1978, he opened a private investigation service. In 1984, Candido and Louisa adopted their 7th child. In the late 1980s, Candido and his son Tim started Midas Concrete.
Candido was a member of the American Legion and an activist in political campaigning. He and Louisa were involved in many charities and in 1997 they became the first couple to be the recipients of the Humanitarian Award form the City of Glendale, Arizona. Playing golf with his family was one of Candido's greatest joys, with a record of three holes-in-one and the last one happening just days before his passing.
Candido was preceded in death by his wife Louisa and his youngest son Jessee.
He leaves his children Candido (Pat), Lydia (Jerry), Josie (Vince), Joe, Tim, and Daniel; 22 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, Dec. 9th, promptly at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix. Family and friends are welcome to attend Candido's Celebration of Life after the services at his home.
