Born January 23, 1965, in Spartanburg, SC, she was a graduate of Dorman High School, Spartanburg Methodist College, and the University of South Carolina where she earned a degree in Criminal Justice. She was an Evidence Technician and Detention Officer with the Greer Police Department until ill health forced her into retirement. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Duncan and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Greer.
She is survived by her father and step-mother, Allen M. Mahaffey and Wanda of Dover, FL; her mother and step-father, Sandra Blanken Malone and Jack of Lyman; a half-brother, Allen W. Mahaffey of Dover, FL; a step-sister, Peggy Self of Columbia, SC; three aunts, Dianne Anderson of Arcadia, Edna O Neil of Cleveland, TN, and Nancy Emerson of Lincolnton, NC; and four uncles, Chuck Blanken and Ronald Blanken, both of Spartanburg, and Hack Malone and Jamer Malone, both of Ware Shoals.
Visitation was 2:00-2:45 PM on Sunday, December 31, 2006, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
Funeral services followed at 3:00 PM at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dr. Wilson Nelson and the Rev. Sam Hammett. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the First Baptist Church of Greer, 202 West Poinsett Street, Greer, SC 29650; or to Greer Community Ministries, Inc., 738 South Line Street Ext., Greer, SC 29650.
