John Allen Jr., was known as "Rod." A resident of Guyton, Georgia, he died at the age of 23 as the result of a motorcycle accident on duty as a Metro Police Officer. He was the son of Rhonda (Tooley) Allen and John Wayne Allen Sr. and one of six siblings. He was a graduate of Marion High School in Marion, Illinois. He had moved to the Savannah area of Georgia with his family, 6 years prior. He was a Police Officer with the Savannah-Chatham Police Department and a Volunteer Fireman. John Jr. was survived by: Parents, John Sr. & Rhonda, of Guyton, Georgia, three brothers, Robert Wayne Allen of Desoto, Georgia, Jody Dwayne Allen of Guyton, Georgia, Jesse Daniel Allen of Guyton, Georgia, two sisters, Dayna Marie Allen of St. Charles, Missouri, Sondra K. Allen of Guyton, Missouri, a daughter, Makayla Nicole Allen of Bloomingdale, Georgia, and his fiance', Nicole Hoomer of Bloomingdale, Georgia.John Wayne "Rod" Allen, Jr., 23, of Guyton, Ga., formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Rod was born Sept. 8, 1983, to John Wayne and Rhonda (Tooley) Allen Sr. in Marion.

Rod was a graduate of Marion High School. He moved six years ago to the Savannah area, where he was an officer with the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department and a volunteer fireman.

Survivors include his daughter, Makayla Nicole Allen; his fiancée, Nicole Hoomer of Bloomingdale, Ga.; parents, John and Rhonda Allen of Guyton, Ga.; three brothers, Robert Wayne Allen of De Soto, Jody Dwayne Allen of Guyton, Ga., and Jesse Daniel Allen of Guyton, Ga.; two sisters, Dayna Marie Allen of St. Charles, Mo., and Sondra K. Allen of Guyton, Ga.; grandparents, Dan and Patsy Tooley of Marion and Mildred Allen of Makanda; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will be in Rowan Cemetery in Makanda.
