ABBOTT, Mildred M., 94, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016.
Mildred was born in Okmulgee, OK. While attending Oklahoma A&M, she met her husband, Roy W. Abbott. They wed in 1941 in Mounds, OK and were married for 76 years. After raising her children, Mildred went on to work for the Jefferson County Public School System, teaching at Seneca High School. She truly enjoyed teaching the giants of British Literature, such as Shakespeare, Tolkien, Chaucer, and C.S. Lewis. She retired from teaching after 20 years. Besides her husband, Roy, Mildred is survived by her children, John W. Abbott (Janice), Clinton E. Abbott (Diane), and Susan A. Small (Kevin); her nine grandchildren and her 17 great grandchildren. Visitation will be 11am-1pm Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with her service to follow at 1pm. Interment will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
