Isabella Solimando, daughter of Francesco* and Maria Rosa Maggi Solimando** (both from Spinoso, Potenza, Italy), sister of Esteban Solimando (b. 1880s[?], Spinoso; d. late-1960s/early-1970s, Buenos Aires, Argentina), cousin of Author Margaret Tempesta, wife (by arranged marriage) and 4th cousin of Michele Solimando (b. 1882, Spinoso, to Michelangelo† and Antonia Ranone Solimando‡; d. 1952, Trenton, NJ) and mother of Antoinette Solimando Abatto (nee Mariantonia), Rose Solimando Roberts (nee Maria Rosina) and Madeline Solimando Robalik (nee Michelina). Isabella helped raise every one of her nine grandchildren: Bernard Abatto, Geraldine Abatto Tomko, Michael Abatto, Doris Abatto Goulding, JoAnn Roberts Ciborowski, Kathleen Roberts Corzine, James Roberts, Michele Roberts Coleman and Geraldine Robalik.

Cause of Death: Arteriosclerotic heart disease, kidney failure.

* Whose parents are Giuseppe and Isabella Pascarelli Solimando, both b. and d. in Spinoso. Francesco, who passed away in his 40s, died circa 1908 in Spinoso from complications following a heart attack. On his deathbed, because he worried about his daughter's independent spirit and feared that she might wind up a spinster, Francesco made Isabella promise to marry her 4th cousin. He did not know that she had someone else in mind, and she had neither the heart nor the time to tell him. So, Isabella obeyed her father's dying wish and kept her promise. She was still mourning the loss of her father on her wedding day. A Papal Dispensation was granted, in order for the marriage to be approved by The Catholic Church.

**Whose parents are Nicolo and Rosa Macarone Maggi, both b. and d. in Spinoso.

† Whose parents are Giovanni and Isabella (Surname Unknown) Solimando, both b. and d. in Spinoso.

‡ Whose parents are Francesco and Maria (Surname Unknown) Ranone, both b. and d. in Spinoso.
