Grace Ellen Grider, nee Brown, 79, of Fairview Heights, Ill., born Feb. 21, 1937 in Anna, Ill., died Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at St. Paul's Home, Belleville, Ill.
Grace was a retired registered nurse of 36 years, and worked for 34 years at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill., and for 2 years at VNA Tip. A 1955 graduate of Dupo Community High School, Grace received an ADN from Belleville Area College (SWIC) in 1974, an BSN from McKendree College in 1985, and an MSN from SIUE in 1995. She was an active member of Christ Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Bud" Grider, Jr., whom she married on April 2, 1954, and who died on April 9, 2010; daughter, Becky, nee Grider, Frawley; grandson, Kyle Grider; parents, Arthur and M. Lorene, nee Rader, Brown; sister D. Monene Haney; brother, Arthur Brown Jr.; mother-in-law, Mary Grider; father-in-law, Charles Grider, Sr.; brother-in-laws, Stanley Haney and Roger Frederick; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Brown.
Surviving are her sons, Charles (Debra) Grider III, Donald (Renee) Grider, and Mark Grider; daughter Cynthia (Gary) Frizell; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale (Joyce) Brown and Robert (Mary) Brown); sister-in-laws Mary Ann Frederich and Juanita Brown; brother-in-law, Michael Grider; and nieces, nephews, and many friends.
