LIEUTENANT ALBERT BRAGGINS KILLED - Banbury Guardian - 9th May 1918
***************************************************************************
The news reached Mr & Mrs G. F. Braggins on Thursday that their fifth son, Lieut. Albert Edwin Braggins, of the Worcestershire Regiment, has been killed in action.

Lieut. Braggins was formerly a pupil at the Banbury Municipal School, where he developed a keenness for chemistry, and made it his profession. He was for a short time at Oxford, after which he obtained an appointment in Georgetown, Demarara, British Guiana, where he remained for four years, leaving there to join the army in 1914.

He joined the Sportsman Battalion and went out to France in the Royal Engineers section, where his chemical knowledge was most useful.

He came back to England to take a commission and was gazetted to the Worcesters.

He was home on leave a month ago and left England again on the 14th April, and immediately took part in the great battle which still rages around Ypres.
***********************************************

Albert aged 39 was killed by an exploding shell.

At the time of Albert's death, he was the second son that Mr. & Mrs. Braggins had lost in the war, and they still had five sons serving.

Albert is NOT BURIED in this cemetery but is COMMEMORATED on a headstone along with his brother Colin, who died in France in 1915 aged 27. Albert is buried in Belgium.
