Mrs. Vera Woody Blackwell, age 83, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at her residence. A native of Yancey County, Vera was born December 12, 1922 and was a daughter of the late Grady and Dora Wilson Woody. She retired from R. L. James Hosiery. Her family will remember her as a loving mother and grandmother. Her husband, David Walter Blackwell, preceded her in death.
Surviving Mrs. Blackwell is a son, Mike Blackwell and wife Alice of Marion; one brother, Eugene Woody of Marion; three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Woody Cemetery in Pleasant Gardens with Rev. Danny Lonon officiating.
