William Harrell "Bill" Bexton, 81, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Hall Community Church in Berrien County with the Rev. Robert Beggs officiating. Mr. Bexton will be laid to rest at Oaky Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends Friday, November 4, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Bexton will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
James Schlieger, Kenneth Looney, Timoth Hall, Kenneth Kusky, Gilbert Hill and Ronnie Hall will serve as pallbearers.
Born May 8, 1935 in Berrien County, Mr. Bexton was the son of the late Fred Bexton and Maudie Lee Conger Bexton. He was also preceded in death by one brother Marcus V. Bexton; and one sister, Freddie Lee Lee. He attended school in Berrien County. He retired from General Motors and was a member of the United Auto Workers. He was a member of Hall Community Church in Berrien County.
Mr. Bexton is survived by his wife, Mary K. Palmer Bexton of Tifton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie and James Schlieger of Durand, Michigan and Nancy Forcier and Cathy and Ken Kusky, all of Burton, Michigan; his step-children and their spouses, Pamela and William Lyons of Lincoln, California, Lori and John Royall of Katy, Texas, Lisa and Mark Brown of Midland, Michigan and Alan Freeman of Springfield, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
