Funeral services for Christopher Van Achkar, age 17, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2008, at Washington Street Baptist Church, conducted by Reverend Lloyd Sanders. Burial will follow in Fairfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday December 28, 2008, from 5-7 p.m. at Pope Funeral Home.
Christopher died in Palmetto Health Richland December 26, 2008. Born in Columbia, SC, May 23, 1991, he was the son of George Achkar and Lisa Mills Achkar. Christopher was blessed by many kind people in his life. A special friend and nurse is Kathy Timms. Special family friends are Betty Peak, Jeanette Jordan and Mary LeGrand. Christopher regularly attended Washington Street Baptist Church and the pastor, Reverend Lloyd Sanders has been a special rock in the midst of his life.
Christopher's smile brought joy to all. As a special needs child, he felt the special needs of all who knew him. Though Christopher endured physical disability, his strength of character shone through.
Living the innocence of childlike faith in Jesus, we are confident that he now plays, runs, jumps, and sings.
