Death of Mrs. Megargee

The Widow of a Prominent Manufacturer and the Mother of Distinquished Sons

Mrs. Annie M. B. Megargee, widow of Sylvester J. Megargee, died at her home, 1733 Arch Street, at 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon, after a lingering illness of about ten weeks.

Much of her life had been devoted to literary work, and a number of her writings, both in prose and poetry, have been published. During last winter she was particularly active in this line, revising her older productions.

A family of eight sons, six of whom survive the mother, have attained to more or less prominence: S. Edwin, Henry C. and Louis N. are well-known residents of this city, while Charles G. lives in Florida and Bernard B. and Francis O. are residents of Scranton.

Mrs. Megargee’s life was prolonged by the ministrations of Drs. William Pepper and J. William White.
