She was born April 25, 1947 in Springwood, Virginia, a daughter of the late Warren Justin Haymaker and Gladys Elizabeth Hudson Haymaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters and a granddaughter, Elaina Hayslett.
Rose was a graduate of James River High School. She was an employee of the former Hercules, Inc. for 5 years. For 19 years she was employed by PMI/Stop In Food Stores and was recognized in the Who’s Who’s Managerial Excellence.
She was a member of the Covington Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Rose loved to garden and take care her animals and spend time with her family at the camp.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 25 years, Jerry Wayne “Hoot” Gibson of Covington; her son, David Hayslett and wife Gabi; her daughter Michelle Collins; grandchildren, Christopher Hayslett; Steven Hayslett and his wife Samantha; Erik Wiersteiner and Ashleigh Nelson.
In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated.
The family will receive their friends Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at the Arritt Funeral Home.
A private funeral service will be a later date.
The family suggest that memorial tributes in Mrs. Gibson’s name may be made to the Covington Fire Department, 435 W. Hawthorne Street, Covington, VA 24426 or Covington Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 588, Covington, VA 24426.
