Barry was born on January 12, 1935, in Mount Union, Pa., the son of the late Lester C. and Verna (Booher) Eberman. He is survived by his three sisters, Gloria Bragg and husband, Donald, of Lancaster, Janice McCabe and husband, James, of Mount Union and Karen Coder, of Huntingdon. Mr. Eberman graduated from Captain Jack High School, Mount Union, and had attended both Shippensburg State College and the Penn State University.
He was a career U.S. Army Special Forces serviceman, with three tours of duty in Vietnam and served in Germany and other duty stations in Europe and South America. His first tour of duty was with the 101st Airborne Division and the remainder of his military enlistments were with Special Forces Operations and Intelligence. He was highly decorated, his awards included the following medals: Combat Infantryman's Badge; two Purple Hearts; three Bronze Stars, with V-device for Valor; the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and the Vietnam Medal of Honor.
After his retirement from the military, he worked at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, and at SCI-Rockview. Barry loved to read and play golf and had a special passion for personal fitness.
Funeral services will be private and there will be no public viewing or visitation. Private interment will be made in the Garden of Honor, Mount Union Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union.
