The funeral ceremonies of Sister Lucy Ignatius Gwinn, the Superior of the St Vincent's Orpphan Asylum, took place at St Patrick's Church... Mr Gwinn, brother of the deceased and late a major general in the confederate army, was the only relative of the deceased present. Father Walter, of St Patrick's Church, chanted the solemn mass and Father Boyle of St Peter's delivered an impressive funeral discourse... Most of the gentlemen above mentioned are trustees of the orphan asylum and others of the Society of the St Vincent De Paul.
The teachers and scholars of the different Catholic schools of this city were also present, as were also a delegation from the St Aloysius parish schools, the ladies of the Sodality, and the male orphans of St Joseph's Society, and others. The church was crowded at an early hour this morning, and the unfeigned sorrow of the little children was a marked feature during the ceremonies. The coffin was of rich rosewood and was ... with an elaborate wreath of ... Her remains were taken to Mount Olivet Cemetery for interment.
