Guenther C. Krieger formerly of Chicago, U.S. Navy World War II veteran passed away September 22, 2016 at home in Marseilles, Illinois.
Guen to those who knew him was born August 28, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Albert and Regina (nee Kirch) Krieger,
Guen was a watchmaker by trade.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley (nee Dienes). Loving father of Anita, Annette (Jim) Poupa, Carol, Linda (John) Ertler, Chris (Kathy), Randy (Regina), Matt (Lori), and Pete (Wendy). Adored grandfather of 17, step grandfather of 2, great grandfather of 15, great great grandfather of 2. He was the dear brother of Gertrude (the late Edward) Zegler and the late Rosa (the late Henry) Kobie. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Guen was preceded in death by this parents, his daughters, Janiece and Cecelia and son, Scott.
Guen joyfully celebrated his life with family on his 90th birthday in August.
Guen leaves wonderful memories of family celebrations and beach vacations, travel, his wood burning stove, and his love of trains and ships. Guen was also an avid fan of the Bears, Hawks and Sox.
Interment will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
