Jacob Richard Adams was granted his angel wings on August 21st 2016, following a yearlong battle with brain cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by his family and closest friends.
Jacob was diagnosed with cancer during his 5th grade year at Windsor Elementary School. Before his diagnosis he was an energetic young man who loved football, dancing, BMX bikes and airsoft air rifles. Jacob’s smile and laugh were etched into your mind at your first meeting. He was a vivacious boy whose love for life was only surpassed by the love of those who had met him. Jacob began each day with a positive outlook that we can only attempt to emulate.

He could regularly be found wandering the neighborhood with his closest friends, or frequenting one of the area skate parks. Jacob loved playing football for the Nansemond Suffolk Pop Warner Saints and was always eager to get back to practice with his teammates even in the throes of his cancer battle. “I can’t wait for next season” was a phrase constantly heard in the Adams’ house. His love of dancing came from Zumba classes that his mother taught and frequently took him to. He was the de facto leader of many classes as he memorized all his mother’s routines and would help anyone in getting the moves right.

If you were unable to find Jacob in any of the aforementioned locations, another sure fire place to find him would be constructing a K’NEX roller coaster somewhere that his brother wouldn’t be able to destroy it. He loved roller coasters, both model and real, and could tell you every element of each roller coaster he had ridden. His favorite roller coaster was Intimidator 305 at King’s Dominion.

Jacob is survived by his loving parents, David and Stephanie Adams of Windsor, Virginia; siblings Lauren, Victoria and Nicholas Adams; paternal grandparents Mark and Pam Adams of Windsor, Virginia; paternal great-grandmothers Thelma Adams and Constance Moran; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
