PUTNAM -- John E. Bednarz, 78, of 337 Kennedy Drive, a World War II veteran and a retired machinist, died Wednesday, May 23, at home.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Rita M. (Ledoux) Bednarz; a daughter, Nancy Mackenzie of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was born in Putnam, son of Joseph and Apolonia (Eukleja) Bednarz. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Bednarz was a machinist at Moldex, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. Mary Church of the Visitation and the Albert J. Breault Post 1523, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. A calling period is 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, in Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St.
