Willam Blake "Billy" Burris, III
July 18, 1944 - September 20, 2016

William Blake Burris, III “Billy”, 72, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on September 20, 2016. Graveside services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, at Forest Park Cemetery on Saint Vincent Ave. Officiating will be Father Mark E. Franklin of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Billy was born on July 18, 1944 in Shreveport, LA to William Blake Burris and Audrey Shovan Burris. He was a lifelong resident of Shreveport.

Preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Paul Shovan; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Blake Burris.

He is survived by his children, William Blake Burris IV and wife, Heather, Courtney B. Rayburn and husband, Darryl, and Clayton S. Burris and wife, Amber; eleven grandchildren, Brittany Fendall, Brooks Burris, Ross Burris, Ashley Rayburn, Frank Rayburn, Charles Rayburn, Mary Rayburn, Cecilia Burris, Gavin Burris, Sawyer Burris and Hope Burris. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Sara Stuart Burris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brooks Burris, Ross Burris, Conway Harris, Chuck Hoffman, Ken Hetherwick and Larry Giddens.

He was a graduate of C.E. Byrd High School and from Louisiana Tech with a B.S. in Business in 1968. He owned Hydagear, Inc. and then later Component Sales, LLC. He was a legend in the fluid power industry.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors of Pierremont Cardiology, the Willis-Knighton Pierremont ICU nurses, and the Willis-Knighton Hospice.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, including his beloved Border Collie, Reba who was his constant companion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, St. Jude, or a charity of the donor's choice.
