William Massie was the early mail carrier and stage operator between Merlin and Galice and owner of the Massie Ferry, which operated on the Rogue River near Indian Mary Park before the Hellgate Bridge was put in. William and Edith (Hanna's daughter) also built the Massie House, an early hotel in Merlin, which Edith ran until her death.
