Dr. Lynn E. Morrell, age 74, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016 in his home. He was born January 13, 1942 in Geneseo, IL to James and Doris Morrell.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother, 3 sisters, and granddaughter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Cheryl, his three children, 7 grandchildren, 5 sisters, and 2 brothers. He served 5 years in the USMC and was decorated with a two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star from the Vietnam War. Lynn graduated from Truman State University with a BS degree, received a Masters and an Ed.S from Eastern Kentucky University, and a Doctorate from Indiana University.

He was a full time professor and department chair at Marian College for 38 years. He served as the baseball coach for 18 years and received coach of the year awards. He won a district championship and had over 300 career wins. He also directed the NYSP for underprivileged kids for 18 years. He was awarded the Sagamor of the Wabash for the state of Indiana for his service to his community and his expertise and mentoring as a professor. He served as an elder and deacon at John Knox Presbyterian Church. His mentoring and accomplishments touched many lives and he will be sorely missed.
