ULLIN -- Bernita Sue (Isom) Murphy, 73, passed away in her sleep Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, in Baptist Health Medical Center in Paducah.

She was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Ullin, the daughter of Meredith and Cleta (Gillette) Isom. Sue was one of nine children born to this union. She married Ronnie Webb and he preceded her in death. She married William “Bill” Murphy on July 22, 1977.

Sue was a homemaker and a loving and compassionate person who was always looking to help someone. She loved taking care of her children, grandchildren and her cats. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ullin.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Bill Murphy of Ullin; son, Greg (Cindy) Webb of Ullin; daughters, Sheila (Jerry) Hase of Anna, Sondra (Brian) Halmaghi of Navarre, Florida, Heather (Charles) Murphy-Green of Pulaski, Sara (Jamie) Matney of Wickliffe, Kentucky; three brothers, Tunney Isom, Kenny Isom, Jim Isom; and one sister, Maxine Johnson.

Sue spent years taking care of her beloved grandchildren who she toted on and spoiled so much. Grandchildren, Michael, Jordan, and Madison Schoffner; Morrissa Tucker, CJ, TJ, Liberty, Adina, Jared, Xavier and Justice Green; Gracie, Murphy, Rebecca, Alicia, Savanna and Hallie Matney; Heath and Heston Hase and Katelyn Webb. A special nephew who called her often, Carl Schloessner. There were many other children and neighborhood kids (and cats) she cared and provided for through the years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clinton Isom, Ralph Isom, Clyde Isom; and sister, Evelyn Long.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, in Mighty Rivers Worship Center in Cairo.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the church, with Dr. Larry Potts officiating. Interment will follow in Mound City National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the church.
