Roney William Lamm, Jr., 80, passed away peacefully in his home in Raleigh, NC on Thursday, November 19th, 2015.
Roney was born in Wilson, North Carolina and received his B.A. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina in 1958, followed by an MBA from the University of Maryland.
During his long and illustrious career, Roney held multiple roles, including Regional VP, Area Director, and President of Finance at Citi Bank in NC, until his retirement. Although retired, Roney remained active in the financial industry as a lobbyist.
Roney was a devoted friend and generous man, who dedicated his life to the improvement of others' lives though guidance, motivation, and empowerment.
He never missed an opportunity to offer advice, support and assistance. He had a unique ability to give the best advice at precisely the right moment. His confidence, intelligence, incredible mind and passion impacted countless people as a role model, confidante and an incredibly loyal friend. He leaves behind a lasting legacy for those who were blessed to have known him and shared in his life.
While Roney was a great leader, teacher and mentor, he truly excelled where it mattered most – as a one-of a kind father who was the very definition of a kind and loving "family man."
He dedicated his life to selflessly supporting, nurturing and caring for his family. He shared his passion for life and family unconditionally, leaving behind the most precious of gifts – memories of laughter, mischief, joy, and love.
"Papa" is survived by his beautiful wife of 21 years, Diana Lamm; his children, Anna Lamm Schneider and Billy Lamm; his 3 grandchildren, Megan, Mitchell and Matthew and his great grandchild, Colton. They will continue to honor his legacy by exhibiting and sharing Roney's values of love, honesty, respect, and hard work ethic, which were instilled in them through his wisdom and example throughout his life.
