Nick Anthony Chris, 51, died peacefully, in the arms of his loving wife, after a brief illness, on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.
Nick was a 1983 graduate of Albemarle High School. He also attended Stanly Community College and Western Carolina University. He worked at Presbyterian Hospital and Carolina’s Medical Center during his career as a Respiratory Therapist. In 2008, he retired and became a stay at home dad to his youngest sons and continued to do so until the end of his life.
Nick was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, a NY Yankees fan and a Carolina Panthers fan. He enjoyed football. He also earned a few "300" rings during his years of bowling. He loved spending summers at Ocean Isle Beach, NC, with his family and friends and vacationing with his family. He married the love of his life and best friend, Tina Harper Chris, in 2001. One of his most favorite memories was celebrating his 50th birthday in Las Vegas with his wife, her sister and dear friends.
Nick is survived by his wife, Tina, Davidson, NC, children Jonathan Harper Long, Jacob Aidan Chris, and Jackson Connor Chris (of the home), Casey Allison Chris, Midland, NC, Jordan Chris, Rock Hill, SC, His Mother Diane (Dee) Efird Wood, Richfield, NC, his Aunt, Gloria Carpenter, Richfield, NC, his uncle, Jeff Efird (Patty), Locust, NC, his brother, Justin Chris, Marshville, NC, his sister-in-law, Kelly Harper, Newington, CT and 2 nephews, Zachery and Carson. He is also survived by 2 amazing friends, who were also his family, Travis and Cherri Crabtree, Charlotte, NC.
Nick loved his children very much. He was very much involved in his younger boys' daily lives, running carpool, and dedicated to their everyday needs. He was passionate about being present in their life.
We are having a celebration of Nick’s life on Sunday, Sept 11, 2016, at the home of Travis and Cherri Crabtree, 12812 Homewood Drive, Charlotte. The family will receive visitors (drop in) from 2 pm – 6 pm followed by a private service for immediate family.
